Resistance bands have a reputation for being uninteresting, low-difficulty, and only really being suitable for beginners.

This reputation, however, is completely undeserved.

In fact, resistance bands are an incredible tool for building real, functional strength. They can also be instrumental in developing larger, aesthetic muscles. Far from being "beginner only," I think that resistance band training has a critical role no matter your level or goals!

The main argument I make in this video, is that by allowing you to alter the angle of resistance and strength curve, resistance bands can be used to more closely mimic a wide range of real-world and sports-related activities. Simply put: if you only ever train with weights, then you will only ever get better at picking heavy objects up from the ground. In reality, we use our strength in a much wider variety of scenarios - whether pushing a heavy object, wrestling and twisting an opponent, or dragging something.

In this video, I demonstrate how you can use resistance band training to emulate many such activities: from throwing a punch, to pushing furniture, to holding a strangle hold.

Resistance bands have a number of other amazing benefits, too: they lend themselves to weighted stretching, they are portable and convenient to bring anywhere, they are low-risk, and they are ideal for isolating specific muscle groups - something I didn't touch on in much detail here.
