What is 1.54 in Concrete While Calculating Quantity Of Sand Cement and Aggregate
For converting Wet volume of concrete to Dry volume of material mix we multiply it by 1.52 to 1.54
From where it come ,
Concrete is mixture of cement, fine aggregate, course aggregate and water. When water is poured in cement and aggregate mixture the volume of dry mixture is reduced to some extent. The mix
Percentage of voids due to fine aggregate = 20 %
Percentage of voids due to course aggregate = 32 – 34 %
Total void percentage = 52 – 54 %
Quantity of concrete is calculated from drawings. From there we obtain wet volume of concrete. So to calculate quantity of raw material we need to convert wet volume to dry volume.
Dry volume = Wet volume + 54 % (Wet volume)
So , 1.54 is conversion factor of wet volume to dry volume of concrete.
Let take an example :-
The length of the concrete beam = 3 m
Dry volume = ( Wet volume + 54% of wet volume)
= 3 + {(54/100) x 3}
= 4.62 m³
The width of the concrete cube = 1 m
The height of the concrete cube = 1 m
Wet volume = 3 x 1 x 1 = 3 m³
