6 Biblical WARNINGs You Need To Know | God Hates These Things

God our creator is never shy about telling us about Himself. God is so holy and it’s important we know what God hates so we avoid it. This is key to our relationship with God. As human beings, we wouldn’t bless someone who dishonours us or act in total disdain towards us. We would turn the other way. So how much more God? Before we can expect anything from God, we must play according to His rules. So in today’s video, we will be talking about “6 things that God hates”. • God is holy by nature and He cannot tolerate what isn’t holy. According to Proverbs 6 vs 16 – 19, we see some of the things God hates. It says “There are six things the LORD hates— no, seven things he detests: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent, a heart that plots evil, feet that race to do wrong, a false witness who pours out lies, a person who sows discord in a family.” These are the things listed that God hates. Let’s observe them individually.
1. The haughty eyes A.K.A Pride. It’s no wonder that the first thing listed here will be pride. Pride is the sin that brought satan from heaven down to earth. In the book of Ezekiel, we see in chapter 28 vs 17 how satan fell. It says “Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendour. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings.” Satan’s sin was pride. He thought He was so beautiful and He wanted to be worshipped just like God. Of course there’s nothing wrong thinking you’re beautiful but when you’re proud about it, God hates it. Pride is also the sin we see first in the garden of Eden. When satan came to deceive Adam and Eve, here was the proposition he gave in Genesis 3 vs 5 "For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” They bought this idea of being like God. It was this pride that led to disobedience just like the devil. And eventually, man fell. No wonder proverbs 16 vs 18 says “Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall.” Before a man is destroyed and falls completely, you will see the sin of pride. This has shown us that God not only hates pride, the sin of pride will bring about destruction as it did for satan and Adam and Eve.
2. A lying tongue. Certainly this sin shouldn’t be a surprise to us. Christians often tend to downplay the sin of lying because they think it’s not as bad as murder. Some Christians also go as far as grouping lies into white lie and black lie, with white lie being the acceptable lie. All lies are the same and as we can see in our main text, lying is among the sins that God detests. Even if this lie is done to protect your neighbour or your loved one, it is still a lie. Paul must have seen this because he admonishes us against lying in Ephesians 4 vs 25 “Therefore, putting away lying, Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbour, for we are members of one another.” It doesn’t matter the reason behind the lie, let us stop lying because God hates it.

3. Hands that kill the innocent. God hates murderers. When you kill the innocent, God hates it. The innocent is anyone who isn’t guilty of what he’s accused of. And today in the world, a lot of people have been put to death unjustly. Most Christians will say “oh I’m innocent of this”, “oh how can you even kill someone” and they run all type of judgement on these murderers. But John opened our eyes to see another set of people called murderers. In 1 John 3 vs 15, we see what John was talking about. It says “Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him.” If you hate anyone dear Christian, know that according to scripture you’re a murderer. The scriptures didn’t give specific situations that allow for hate. It didn’t say “you’re free to hate if they mock you or if they cause you pain.” It didn’t even say “you’re free to hate them if they hate you too”. No excuse for hate so let’s get rid of every form of hate. 6 Biblical WARNINGs You Need To Know | God Hates These Things
