Newsmax Platforms Trump Lying About ‘Rigged’ California Recall Election
Published at : September 13, 2021
Donald Trump calls in to @Newsmax TV to give his "thoughts" on the California governor's recall election, which could unseat current Governor Gavin Newsom. Unsurprisingly, Trump's thoughts are just a word-salad remix of what he thinks about every election that isn't going the way he wants it to: it's rigged; mail-in ballots aren't legitimate; the "one thing [Democrats] are good at is rigging elections." Trump also seems to think that in this election you can make your own ballot (you can't). Although Newsom is ahead at this point, Trump is getting ahead of himself, as the actual election day is September 14.

Sam Seder: We know in California there is a ongoing recall election. The returned ballots so far, early ballots, seem to be favoring Democrats. Remember, and if you listen to the interview I did with him, Erwin Chemerinsky yesterday, there's good reason to believe that were Newsom essentially kicked out of office that it would be unconstitutional, insofar as it's going to take a majority of recall voters to vote him out, but someone can get elected with... If Larry Elder actually gets elected, he could win the governorship with 19 percent. Newsom is not allowed on the ballot, so his election, you need to win the majority, but Elder's election, if he wins, you need to win the plurality. You see the problem there. In Newsom's election if he loses sixty to forty percent, let's say, sixty percent say we want him out, forty percent we want him in. Those forty percent of voters have less of a say on what is going to happen in terms of the outcome of the election than the 19 percent, theoretically, who would vote for Elder.
At least the polls now are showing that Elder... that the the recall provision may be in jeopardy. And again, Gavin Newsom: I don't have too many great things to say about Gavin Newsom, but the best thing I can say about him is he's better than Larry Elder. Here is former President Donald Trump on Newsmax starting the cri de coeur in California.
