We decided to homeschool Mauna just to give us more time with him while his sister is away in school, so I can share time with her afterwards. ..& it’s just one more year before he goes to school with Tina. Who knows, maybe we’ll continue to homeschool him.

Our biggest focus is his spirituality, basic life skills such as learning how to regulate his emotions, coping skills, etc., reading, writing, math & lots of fun. School is MWF & TTH is reading & days we want to explore and possibly take field trips. I’m trying to keep it really simple. When I say simple I’m saying math is literally 10 min, sometimes 20 min. But we learn a number, what it looks like in written form, how to write it & how much it looks like (quantity). He’s learning to write his name and later some letters, plus short letter sounds. School sessions are 2-3 hrs depending on the day. I wanted to create something just to form some structure, but with Tavake home also, we’re flexible and we work with what we have and how long we can. Lol. Tavake likes to do school sometimes, too.

Wish us luck. Lol. Mauna, you’re creative, bright & loving. We love you! Week at a Glance: Mauna’s Pre-K Homeschooling
