President Vladimir Putin's United Russia party won a majority in Russia's parliamentary election. United Russia has won a total of 324 seats. In Russia, the people directly vote in both parliamentary and presidential elections. The upper house of the Parliament is called the Federation Council and the lower house is called the State Duma. The head of government is the Prime Minister while the president is the head of state. Vladimir Putin has been at the helm of power in Russia for the past two decades. After amendments to the Russian constitution, he can now remain president until 2036. In such a situation, he will become the person to hold this post for the longest time after Joseph Stalin.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro addressed the United Nations General Assembly, urging the United States and the European Union to lift economic sanctions on him. A political crisis erupted in Venezuela after opposition leader Juan Guaido declared himself president. Maduro broke all ties with America after America supported Juan Guaido. The USA and the European Union imposed heavy economic sanctions on Venezuela.

रूस के संसदीय चुनाव में राष्ट्रपति ब्लादिमीर पुतिन की यूनाइटेड रशिया पार्टी को बहुमत मिला। यूनाइटेड रशिया को कुल 324 सीटों पर जीत दर्ज हुई है। रूस में संसदीय और राष्ट्रपति दोनों में जनता सीधे वोट डालती है। संसद के ऊपरी सदन को फेडरेशन काउंसिल और निचले सदन को स्टेट डुमा कहते हैं। सरकार का मुखिया प्रधानमंत्री होता है जबकि राष्ट्रपति राष्ट्राध्यक्ष होता है। ब्लादिमीर पुतिन पिछले दो दशक से रूस की सत्ता में शीर्ष पर बैठे हैं। रूसी संविधान में संशोधन के बाद अब 2036 तक वह राष्ट्रपति रह सकते हैं। ऐसे में वह जोसेफ स्टालिन के बाद सबसे ज्यादा दिनों तक इस पद पर रहने वाले शख्स बन जाएंगे।



वेनेजुएला के राष्ट्रपति निकोलस मादुरो ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा को संबोधित करते हुए अमेरिका और युरोपीयन यूनियन से अपने ऊपर लगे आर्थिक प्रतिबंधों को हटाने की अपील की। विपक्षी दल के नेता ख़ुआन गोइदो द्वारा खुद को राष्ट्रपति घोषित करने के बाद वेनेजुएला में राजनीतिक संकट खड़ा हो गया था। अमेरिका द्वारा ख़ुआन गोइदो का समर्थन करने के बाद मादुरो ने अमेरिका से सभी रिश्ते तोड़ लिया था। अमेरिका और यूरोपीय संघ ने वेनेजुएला पर भारी आर्थिक प्रतिबंध लगा दिए थे।

बेल्जियम में प्रवासियों ने दुनिया को झकझोर कर रख देने वाली भूख हड़ताल को अंजाम दिया है। प्रदर्शनकारियों ने मुँह को सील पानी पीने तक से इनकार कर दिया। बेल्जियम सरकार ने दस्तावेज नहीं होने के कारण इन प्रवासियों को मान्यता देने से इनकरा कर दिया है।
