भारत का औद्योगिक वित्त निगम (IFCI) एक विकास बैंक के रूप में कार्य करता है। IFCI की स्थापना 1 जुलाई, 1948 को IFCI अधिनियम, 1948 के अंतर्गत हुई थी। भारत में लंबे समय से आवश्यकता महसूस हो रही थी कि बड़े-बड़े उद्योगों को आर्थिक सहायता देने के लिए एक अखिल भारतीय संस्था की स्थापना की जाए।

इसी की पूर्ति के लिए स्वतन्त्रता के बाद भारत सरकार ने उद्योग धन्धों को दीर्घकालीन तथा मध्यकालीन आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने के लिए एक औद्योगिक वित्त निगम अधिनियम पास किया जिसके अन्तर्गत ‘भारतीय औद्योगिक वित्त निगम’ की स्थापना की गई।

यह मुख्यतः शेयर धारियों का निगम है। इसके शेयर भारत के औद्योगिक विकास बैंक, अनुसूचित बैंकों, जीवन बीमा निगम व अन्य वित्तीय संस्थाओं ने लिये हैं। शेयरों पर भारत सरकार ने गारण्टी प्रदान की है।

The Industrial Finance Corporation of India (IFCI) acts as a development bank. IFCI was established on 1st July, 1948 under the IFCI Act, 1948. In India, the need was felt for a long time that an all India organization should be established to provide financial assistance to big industries.

To fulfill this, after independence, the Government of India passed an Industrial Finance Corporation Act to meet the long-term and medium-term needs of industries, under which 'Industrial Finance Corporation of India' was established.

It is primarily a corporation of shareholders. Its shares have been taken by Industrial Development Bank of India, scheduled banks, Life Insurance Corporation and other financial institutions. The Government of India has provided guarantee on the shares.
