On Parliament Hill, federal Justice Minister David Lametti is joined virtually by Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan to discuss proposed legislation that would provide ten days of paid sick leave per year to workers in federally regulated industries. The legislation would also prohibit intimidation of health-care workers and those seeking health services, as well as obstruction of access to health facilities. The bill comes in response to anti-vaccination protests that have taken place outside hospitals and COVID-19 vaccine clinics across the country. Minister Lametti is joined in person by Dr. Katharine Smart, president of the Canadian Medical Association, and Linda Silas, president of the Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions.
