Munich Looping also known as Olympia Looping in action at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, join us for a look at the largest portable roller coaster in the world

Olympia Looping is a portable steel roller coaster owned and operated by R. Barth und Sohn Schaustellerbetriebe KG. It was designed by Anton Schwarzkopf and Werner Stengel, and built by BHS based on idea by Rudolf Barth. It first opened in September 1989 at Oktoberfest in Munich.

Facts (according to the Olympian Looping website):
The runway height is 32.5 m and has an overall height of 38.5 m with a ground area of 86.5 m x 38.5 m It's overall weight is 900t, it has a track length of 1250m and can reach speeds of 100km/h which is around 62mph and a G-force of 5.2. The setup and dismantling time is about one week with 10 workers and transported with company owned trucks or by train with 50 waggons and 20 intermodal containers.

Why Does the Ride Have Different Names?
The ride was called Fünfer Looping (Five Loops) during it's design phase, but is generally known as Olympia Looping which is in reference to its loops being painted to match those of the Olympic rings. However, at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, the ride is known as Munich Looping to fit in with the Bavarian theming with signs on the ride using the German München Looping. The name change in the UK may also be to avoid confusion and perhaps potential restriction on the use of the name with the Olympic games.
