Massively Influential Countries That Arose From NOTHING

This video looks at the history of a couple of the most well-known countries in Europe, which ruled over three of the biggest empires in Human History. On the list is England, which actually traces its origins from a kingdom that was barely the size of the modern county of Hampshire. The second country we will be looking at is Turkey and how its ancestor- the Ottoman Empire- began from a single village in western Anatolia. Finally, we will be looking at Spain, which started as a backwater mountain principality that managed to push the Muslims out of the Iberian peninsula after centuries of struggles.
