
UK sets out legislation to combat building safety issues after fatal 2017 Grenfell Tower fire

The safety of residential buildings is back in the spotlight after the collapse of a Miami condominium in June. In London, it has brought back memories of the fatal Grenfell Tower fire in June 2017. Four years on, lawmakers are trying to offer better protections to residents who feel their homes are structurally unsafe. The Building Safety Bill’s aim is to make sure any future building is constructed safely and gives leaseholders more rights and protections, but some have said the proposed legislation does not go far enough.
