Ollas for Healthy Seedlings During Drought (ancient gardening technique)
Published at : August 20, 2022
We're in the middle of a heatwave, and other regions nearby are officially in drought. This means that watering the garden and keeping new seedlings thriving can be challenging. Sow seeds or plant seedlings, and they can fail to germinate or start to wilt almost immediately. The technique I'm sharing today is a clever way to be able to keep seedlings alive in the heat of summer while reducing water usage and time spent watering.
The method makes use of ollas, which are self-watering pots that have been used for thousands of years. They are extremely important in arid regions of the world and will become more and more useful to those of us experiencing hotter summers than usual.
